57 year old- not losing weight – results of ASI, CDSA back and appears so much to be going on, appreciate help with rationalising supplement protocol please. Tanya
I had the results back yesterday and am seeing this patient tonight – so if you have the time would really value your opinion on what I should prioritise in terms of supplementation ….. completely appreciate it’s last minute and if you can’t make that deadline ……
Her goals are- lose weight at initial consultation 162 cm and 74 kgs – fat mass 41% ATM 28%), address general anxiety, teeth clenching, low and fluctuating moods, bloating and wind.
Her thyroid questionnaire panel was very high, and although having a Thyroid test thru Bupa – stating normal, I asked to do Barnes temp test and she is showing to be sup-optimal hypo + many of the symptoms we often discuss on this forum.
She has suffered from chronic constipation most her life- was diagnosed with a “spastic colon” at 18.
The main treatment we agreed on in her initial was to address the diet, which she has been 80-90% compliant with, I also prescribed her Zen to assist with the anxiety – which she reported back after 2 weeks feeling far more in control – and wait for results of ASI and CDSA to target supplementation as best I can.
The results of the ASI – show:-
noon and afternoon to be outside range only at 2.3 and 1.9 respectively with total cortisol 21.9 . DHEA however is low at both readings at 0.16 and 0.13 – indicating a resistance phase as DHEA plummets before cortisol as a compensation mechanism.
My feeling is that the thyroid needs more addressing – but obviously the two glands can’t be treated in isolation and both need attention.
On top of this the CDSA(or equivalent- not thru Genova THRU BTS) has highlighted an unusual result that I’ve not experienced before:-
Stuhl Moulds 10^3-10^4 medium high cfu/ml
Mucor mould was found on the mouth swab
plus Clostridium perfringens, low lactobaccilus and bifido + hypoacidity via questionnaire panel and bicarbonate soda test.
and decreased exocrine pancreatic function!!…… so, I don’t want to overload her with supplements- here are my thoughts:-
Adrenal support for this level:
ADB5 2 @ BFAST
hERBAL ADRENAL DROPPER formula 11.30 and 330
possibly Super adrenal stress formula 1 @ each meal
GTA FOrte II 2 bfast 2 luch
Thyrostim 1 bfast 1 lunch
Hydrozyme 1-2 with each meal
S.bouladri 1 with each meal
Rotation of two probiotics
My questions:that ‘s 7 supplements- quite alot – and is this too many glandulars?
– the mucour in the mouth- but not the gut, should this be treated with an antifungal mouth wash like citricidal 3 times a day for example while supporting boosting innate immunity ?
Thanks in advance Anthony…..Tanya

Thanks for this case and sorry that I have missed the deadline by which you were seeing this lady. Perhaps you have already made recommendations to her?
I agree that her thyroid does need support, and sometimes it is possible to support only the thyroid or only the adrenals, since you are aware that this will not continue without some focus being placed on the other in a month or two.
The choices of supplements you have made are very sound and I would agree with your suggestions, but here is how I would prioritise them, in order to reduce the number to 5 as opposed to 7. Actually, there are 6, because the Zen is known to be helpful. The focus is on her achieving weight loss in the first period of time, and hopefully improved moods and energy too. I have also listed the supplements in ranked order of importance.
Yes, the stool & saliva swab results are very interesting and important, and the S. Boulardii can set the scene for you to focus more on this aspect of her health once she has lost some weight.
And, finally, yes, I acknowledge that her digestive imbalances and so on could affect her hormonal balance.
GTA Forte II (BR) – 2 with breakfast & 2 with lunch
Zen (AR) – 1 on empty stomach, as needed
Thyrostim (BR) – 1 with breakfast & 1 with lunch
S. Boulardii (AR) – 1 with each meal
ADB5-Plus (BR) – 1 with breakfast, 1 with lunch
Herbal Adrenal Support Formula (FF) – 1 dropperful at 11.30 am & 3.30 pm
I hope this is of some help, albeit a little late for recommending to the patient face to face.
